Coming from rural Gibson county, Austin Wolf chose USI because it was familiar. “Of course, the campus is beautiful,”’ he says. “I liked what seemed to be the simplicity of life at USI. What I didn’t count on was how personally invested USI is in you.” Remembering his own tour of campus, one of the first things that Austin did was become a student ambassador. Over his four years at USI, he has enjoyed promoting his major, Health Services, to students who are thinking about a career in one of the health professions. “My classes were always engaging and challenging,” he says. “The professors did everything to equip us with skills to do well in real life.” Real life translated to an internship experience at Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons. He was challenged to expand his knowledge base every day from writing blogs about hammer toes to managing and creating content for their web site and social media platforms. “I was constantly learning new things,” he says. “They took the time to learn my strengths and let me grow with the job.” And they later helped him find a job. Austin has accepted a position as a recruiter at Deaconess Health System. One day, he could be back on campus looking for other USI talent to invest in.
