Lilly Howard’s game plan is always changing and expanding. If she doesn’t like the road she is traveling, she just takes nearest exit and gets on another one. USI was a last-minute choice for her and was prepared not to like it. But after meeting fellow student, Hayley Alexander her first day on campus, her outlook and world changed. Hayley introduced her the students in the International Club, and her plan expanded to meet many students from all over the world. She now volunteers as a conversation partner with the Intensive English Program. A UNIV 101 professor guided her to the major she has now-Marketing. Dr. Peggy Shields guided Lilly to taking the best professors to match her learning style. Being the events chair for APB her freshman year allowed her opportunities and skills to act as a mentor to the student organization she holds dear to her heart, KESHO, an organization that promotes global awareness. “I’m so glad I came here. Unlike a bigger school, USI really does put students first. They make sure students have resources they need to succeed. That’s why I love USI.” The next road Lilly plans to travel down will be to graduate school. She has been accepted into Indiana University’s Higher Education and Student Affairs graduate program with a focus on global engagement. For now, her game plan includes being the next mover and shaker, but she is always open to different road.
